Overview
A whale shark “open trip” is a shared tour package where participants join other travelers on a journey to whale shark sighting spots in Saleh Bay, Sumbawa.
Open trips are a popular choice because they are more affordable than private tours while still offering the exciting experience of swimming alongside whale sharks in their natural habitat.
On this trip, participants typically depart in the early morning by boat, heading to the area where fishermen’s lift nets (*bagan*) are located and whale sharks frequently appear. Upon arrival, travelers can snorkel and observe the whale sharks up close, accompanied by a guide and the boat crew.
